Brianna came over that night. “We need to talk.” She pulled on my arm and led me to my bedroom. “I don’t know how to say this.” She bit her lip. I tilted her chin up so I could look at her face. “It’s only me, babe. You can tell me anything. You know that.” Her hands gripped my shirt tight. “I don’t know. I don’t know if you’ll get mad or what’ll happen. I’m scared, Simon. This whole thing scares me.”
I frowned. What could possibly have her this shaken up? “Brianna.” I pulled her into my arms, resting my chin on top of her head. “I’m here. Whatever it is…we’ll be alright. Please tell me.” She took a deep breath and buried her head in my chest. “I’m pregnant.” Came her muffled reply. My eyes widened and I pulled back to look at her again. “What? Are you sure?” She nodded slowly. “I haven’t been to see a doctor about it yet but I’ve taken three different home tests. They all said the same thing.” Tears gathered in her eyes. “What will we do?” I kissed her gently. “We’ll be great parents. That’s what. I’ll take care of everything, baby.” A small smile pulled at her lips and I twirled her in a small circle.
